Discover Cape Verde

The Cape Verde archipelago is made up of ten islands of volcanic origin, located in the Atlantic ocean about 600 km off the African coast of Senegal.

Each island is unique and offers at least one good reason for a trip to Cape Verde.

Windward Islands: Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia (uninhabited), São Nicolau, Sal and Boavista

Leeward Islands: Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava

For sun and beach, we recommend the islands of Sal and Boavista, the most touristy, and also the island of Maio. The island of Boavista has a special attraction: between June and September, it is possible to observe the nesting of sea turtles.

What to know before traveling to Cape Verde:

As in other African countries, it is not advisable to drink tap water. Use bottled water or a reusable water bottle with a filter and avoid ice in drinks.

It is recommended to venture out for local food, even if it’s just once. In addition to the typical Cape Verdean dish, cachupa, fish and seafood are the best options.

  • Hot Weather All Year Round

The islands are warm and sunny all year round, making them ideal for many visitors with no special interest. Any time is perfect to enjoy the beauty of Cape Verde.

Although the official currency in Cape Verde is the escudo, euros are accepted in the vast majority of shops and restaurants.
